Electric mountain bike, urban e-bike... so many possible variants for very different uses!

Thanks to their motorisation at the rear wheel or pedals, Electrically Assisted Bikes make cycling accessible to a wide public. Riding for pleasure or utility, over longer distances and on various routes, is indeed possible with an e-bike, whatever your level of practice. Hence its current popularity!

The final intended use directly determines the performance of the electric bike and its technical characteristics (type of tyres, presence of rigid or damped forks, number of gears, etc.).

The mechanical design of the wheel is essential for the robustness of an electric bike, which is always heavier than a conventional bike; it must also be able to withstand heavy loads for e-cargo bikes, up to several hundred kilos.

Wide rims are therefore preferred, in sizes adapted to each use: 29" for mountain bikes, most often 27.5" for urban use, but 20" for folding electric bikes. It is a matter of choosing between stability, grip and handling of the wheel. For the e-MTB, you should opt for a Tubeless Ready rim, to avoid the risk of slipping at low pressure.

The 14G or 13G double-butted spokes are very suitable for e-bike wheels, in steel or stainless steel for more resistance to intensive use.
